About

Blank Canvas refers to starting afresh, from a space which is pure and natural.

I am a creative academic with specific interest across popular music, photography and socio-cultural developments within creative arts education.

My research explores the impact of UK art schools on popular musicians, how specific education philosophies and practices impacted on the creativity of a wide range of musicians. From Brian Eno to PJ Harvey, punk, post punk and new wave to hip hop, jungle and indie music genres. My goal is to generate Higher Popular Music Education curricula which helps to produce creative musicians of the future; creatives who maximise their potential as artists from a personalised perspective.

As a musician I create relaxed tracks which evolve and have melodic and rhythmic flow, built on organic, natural sounds in conjunction with synths, strings, piano and beats alongside trombone led brass embellishments. I have played and produced music in all styles including classical, jazz, funk, latin, dub, punk and dance.

Minimalism is a feature which cuts across all my work. In photography I explore calmness and serenity through beautiful landscapes with merging colour palettes and original framing. My work has been commissioned by the NHS, Sustrans and many environmentally aware businesses.
